Opis: Plays a role as negative regulator of myoblast differentiation, in part through effects on MTOR signaling. Has no detectable enzymatic activity.PPAPDC3, also known as nuclear envelope transmembrane protein 39 (NET39), was initially discovered in an in silico screen for secreted or membrane proteins. It is a member of the PAP2 superfamily of phosphatases and haloperoxidases. PPAPDC3 has recently been shown to act as a negative regulator of myoblast differentiation by diminishing the activity of the mammalian target of rapamycin TOR. PPAPDC3 is highly expressed in cardiac and skeletal muscle and becomes strongly upregulated during cultured myoblast differentiation tissues. Overexpression of PPAPDC3 in myoblasts repressed myogenesis while knockdown by RNA interference promoted differentiation indicating its part in the regulatory mechanism for myogenesis.

Opis: Alpha-Internexin (INA; also NF-66) is a 66 kDa member of the intermediate filament (IF) protein family. The protein was originally purified from rat optic nerve and spinal cord. And the protein copurifies with other neurofilament subunits, as it was originally discovered, however in some mature neurons it can be the only neurofilament expressed. The protein is present in developing neuroblasts and in the Central Nervous System of adults. Meanwhile, the protein is a major component of the intermediate filament network in small interneurons and cerebellar granule cells, where it is present in the parallel fibers.

Opis: Members of the RTP (receptor transporter proteins) family have recently been discovered to influence bitter taste receptor expression in addition to inducing the expression of mammalian odorant receptors. RTP3 is a 232 amino acid single-pass type III membrane protein belonging to the TMEM7 family. Unlike other RTP proteins, RTP3 is not expressed in olfactory neurons but is expressed predominantly in liver. RTP3 is involved in the functional expression of bitter taste receptors and suppresses cell proliferation, and is also found in human circumvallate papillae and testis (regions where bitter taste receptors are expressed). The gene encoding RTP3 maps to human chromosome 3p21.31 within C3CER1 (chromosome 3 common eliminated region 1), which is frequently eliminated in chromosomal deletions of solid tumors.

Opis: Zwilch is the human homolog of the Drosophila Zwilch protein. The Drosophila Zwilch forms a complex with both ROD Rough Deal) and ZWINT (Zeste-White 10, also designated ZW10) proteins. This complex is important for chromosome segregation because it recruits cytoplasmic Dynein to the kinetochore and plays a crucial role in the spindle checkpoint. The role of Zwilch in complex is thought to be evolutionarily conserved because the human homologs of Zwilch, ZWINT and ROD coimmunoprecipitate in a human cell line called HeLa. The human Zwilch, ZWINT and ROD complex localizes to the kinetochores at prometaphase. Mutations were discovered in Zwilch, ZWINT and ROD during a screen for mutations in alleles encoding putative chromosome instability genes in cases of human colorectal cancer. These mutations may contribute in part to the chromosomal instability phenotype of colorectal tumor cells.

Opis: PLAC4 Antibody: PLAC4 (placenta-specific protein 4), was initially discovered as a gene whose mRNA was expressed in placental syncytiotrophoblast and choriocarcinoma cells. While the function of PLAC4 is currently unclear, its gene is known to be located on chromosome 21q22.3. Due to the PLAC4 gene location on chromosome 21 and the release of its mRNA transcripts into maternal bloodstream from the placenta, it has been proposed to be a useful marker noninvasive prenatal chromosome 21 aneuploidy detection, although other reports suggests that PLAC4 mRNA levels are not altered in the maternal circulation of pregnancies with trisomy 21.

Opis: DPP2 is a serine protease found most abundantly in the lysosome. There is also a non-lysosomal membrane-associated form of DPP2 reported in the rat brain (DPP-II-M), and a soluble form (DPP-II-S). First discovered as an enzyme involved in the terminal steps of protein degradation, and later as an enzyme involved in cell growth and quiescence, DPP2 cleaves N-terminal dipeptides and tripeptides from proteins. DPP2 has a preference for proline in the P1 position, and processes the tripeptides generated by DPP1 (which is unable to cleave if proline is in the P1 position). Some tumor cell lines express elevated DPP2 levels, and serum levels of DPP2 are elevated in some cancer patients, making DPP2 a potential tumor marker. DPP2 levels have been also been reported to be elevated in the cerebral spinal fluid from Parkinson’s patients.

Opis: TIM-1 Antibody: The human form of TIM-1 was initially discovered as a membrane glycoprotein through which the hepatitis A virus can gain entry into a cell. It was also identified as kidney injury molecule 1 (Kim-1), a predicted adhesion molecule that is upregulated on the surfaces of kidney epithelia. It is also expressed on T helper 2 (Th2) cells of the immune system, and following the binding of its natural ligand TIM-4, stimulates T cell expansion and cytokine production in response to viral challenge. It has been suggested that hyperactivation of TIM-1 leads to an increased level of Th2 responsiveness and asthma susceptibility, and antibodies to TIM-1 may therefore be a novel approach to treating asthma.
